WOOD SPECIES
I mainly provide products within six main wood species:
American walnut, Mahogany Sapele, Oak, Maple, Alderwood, Beechwood.
With additional products that are custom-made or just unique wood species from my storage.
Here you will find some facts and descriptions of woods that we are fond of.
-Black walnut is anecdotally known for being allelopathic, which means that it releases chemicals from its roots and other tissues that may harm other organisms and give the tree a competitive advantage. There is not, however, solid scientific consensus that allelopathic chemicals in black walnut are the primary source of its competitive growth in an area.
-Walnut odor has a very earthy or nutty smell to it.
-Trees grow from 30 to 40 meters tall.
-Leaves are long (about 30-60 cm) with a rounded base and a long pointed tip with a serrated edge. And have dark green collor.
-Walnut tree ripens their fruit called nuts in the late summer or autumn. The whole fruit, including the husk, falls in October; the seed is relatively small and very hard.
-Like other trees of the order Fagales, such as oaks, hickories, chestnuts, and birches, it is monoecious, with wind-pollinated catkins. Male and female flowers are in separate spikes, and the female flowers typically appear before the male on a single tree.
-It is an amazing tree species with high-value wood that is a joy to work with.
American walnut
American Walnut, scientifically known as Juglans nigra or eastern American black walnut is a hardwood species native to North America. Is a species of deciduous tree in the walnut family, Junglandaceae. Their total lifespan is estimated to be around 130 years old.
-It's renowned for its rich, chocolate-brown color with occasional purplish undertones. The character is full of wavy grain patterns, interspersed with occasional knots and burls adding value to itself. Its workability in woodwork is well-known as one of the best wood species to work on and with that the finish is breathtaking.
Mahagonij Sapeli
-Mahogany Sapele (Entandrophragma cylindricum), often simply referred to as Sapele, comes from the city of Sapele in Nigeria and it is a beautiful and versatile hardwood known for its rich reddish-brown color and striking gold grain patterns.
- Originating from tropical Africa, Sapele is highly valued for its durability, stability, and natural luster. It is commonly used in high-end furniture, cabinetry, musical instruments, and decorative veneers. Its elegance is shown in the truly beautiful colors that on their own present beauty of wood and elegance of unique craftsmanship.
-Tree grows about 45 meters tall
-The leaves are deciduous in the dry season, alternately arranged, pinnate, with 5-9 pairs of leaflets, each leaflet about 10 cm long.
-The flowers are produced when the tree is leafless, each flower about 5 mm in diameter, with five yellowish petals.
-The fruit is a pendulous capsule about 10 cm long and 4 cm broad; when mature it splits into five sections to release the 15-20 seeds.
-Odor is fruity to earthy with a citrus hint.
- As an exotic type of wood with a rich color and unique texture it humbles all other woods. Every creation attracts everyone with an aye of quality and its color brightens a room full of emotions
